Ashura Imam Hussain (A.S)

The Life of Imam Hussein
Ashura uprising is epitome of sacrifice and solidarity - Tehran Times
Imam Hussein (A.S.) was born in Medina in 626 B.C, he was the second son of Imam Ali Ibn Abi Talib (A.S.). His mother was Fatimah Zahra (A.S.), daughter of Prophet Mohammed (P.B.U.H.). He was the grandson of Prophet Mohammed, his older brother Imam Hassan and he had four sisters from his mother Fatimah Zahra. His mother was one of the greatest women in history, because of her deep knowledge, morality, and purity. So Imam Hussein spent six years of his life with his grandfather and thirty years with his father. For example, when Imam Hussein saw a stranger, he asked him if the wind in this area hurt him or maybe he had a disagreement with his wife. Then the person was crying, and he told Imam Hussein that he said bad words to Imam Ali, and Imam Hussain provided a house for him. He asked Imam Hussein why he let him stay in the house, because the way that family of Prophet Mohammed treat the people. This paper will discuss the life of Imam Hussain after his grandfather, mother, father, and older brother died.

First, before October 10,680 B.C, Imam Hussain had a disagreement with a bad guy named Yaizd. He asked Imam Hussain to let him to be a leader of Muslims, but he did not let him. Then, Yaizd told Imam Hussain that he would kill him even if he was in Mecca. Also, Yaizdhated Imam Hussain and his family because when his father Ali was a leader of Muslims, he made equality between people even if they had no religion or were poor. However, people told Imam Hussain that he had to let him be a leader because they were afraid that Yaizd would killhim. Imam Hussain got a lot of messages from Iraq, and people invited him to live in Iraq. Then,he sent his cousin into Iraq because he wanted to see if people told the truth. After his cousin lived in Iraq, Yaizd changed the prince of Iraq into someone who enjoyed killing people because he enjoyed seeing blood. Then he killed cousin of Imam Hussain and his friends. Also people who were from Iraq changed their mind because the prince gave them a lot of money, and he told people that he would give them more money if they helped to him to killed Imam Hussain when he came to Iraq with his family and friends.

Furthermore, on October 10,680 B.C. Imam Hussain went to Iraq with his friends and family because he thought that Iraqis would help him to protect human beings, but they did not. In the other words, Iraqis showed that they left Hussain alone in Iraq, and they wanted to kill him. Hussain stayed in the desert called “Karbala” near the Euphrates River and he met a Christian guy named Wahba, who was with his mother and wife. Wahba joined Hussain when he heard that Imam Hussain would be killed by Iraqis and Yaizd because Hussein was one of greatest men in history.  They were seventy three people with Hussein and between seventeen thousands and thirty two thousands armies with Yaizd. Also armies did not allow Imam and his friends and family to drink water from river probably more than three days. On the 10th day of October Omer who was leader of armies “Yaizd” attacked Hussein. They killed his friends and family then him on the same time. The armies took the women, and children to prince, and they put chains on their feet.

Overall, not only did Imam Hussain protect for Muslims, but also sacrifice himself to fight for people’s freedom. You can learn from him the basics, true strategy of life. There are many articles talking about Imam Hussein, like the famous saying of Gandhi “I learnt from Hussain how to achieve victory while being oppressed".
